Born in UK. Father DSO WWII. As a midshipman u/t with the RN (Glasgow) he was involved in the heroic rescue of a youngster at Weymouth Harbour in 1948. Qualified as a pilot in 1954. Received Herbert Lott prize for Anti-Submarine Warfare expertise in 1955. Mostly served with FAA, and in several HMA warships. Commander 1970. CO Harman 1971-72. Retired 1977. First wife a librarian. Married a naval social worker later. Sadly, said to have died from a medical episode while visiting Cambodia decades ago. If memory served me. XO of Quick Match during its visit to Saigon in 1962, with Vampire. He recalled it as a picturesque and beautiful old city. It was a tense situation in wartime even then. Noted he spent long periods at sea away from home often wondering how one's family and growing children were faring. Those were the era of up to one year deployment's up top in the FESR then. XO of Duchess 1967. A pier head leap to replace the incumbent XO who was recalled to Australia for several reasons. A fine seaman and aviator.

See Canberra Times profile Saturday 1 May, 2010, for saving a child from drowning.
