I never knew about some of the information given on this website. We were not taught about this in our high school history classes and never learnt of the full extent of the horrific treatment of the Canadians taken prisoner in Hong Kong and Singapore, let alone the Australian sacrifices. If my father had not flown with other Commonwealth aircrew, I wouldn't even know about the AUS/NZ contribution. This website does a tremendous service to making sure people do know, so the sacrifices are not forgotten and hopefully the events are not repeated. Thanks for the education.

Caught up with some 10th intake JRTE (65) lads at Anzac day Melb,2008, sampling the nectar at the South Melbourne Maori Chief hotel, Irish Mclean, Bart PG Cummins, Dave Durr Sullivan, heard that Steggles and Stumpy Broadsmith in town but at the Comms reunion, hooray the 10th intake of JRS are still about.. Good day all round thanks to the hard working HMAS Sydney VSLA committee arrangements the march, and the catch up sampling at the MC Pub, with Shipmates from Sydney and Derwent, Swan, Yarra, Melbourne and Supply days. Cheers to Peter Chips Dales former PO Greenie, who made it over from the West, former shipmate and local lad from Montmorency,where later the Monty RSL kept the fires going way into the arvo.
