The Australian
Navy has ordered 11 aircraft for their Anzac Class frigates.
Deliveries
began in 2001. The Australian SH-2G(A) is fitted with the Litton
Integrated Tactical Avionics System (ITAS), digital automatic flight
control system and Penguin missile.
The Royal Australian
Navy's SH-2G(A) Super Seasprites will operate from the ANZAC Class
frigates, mainly in the primary operational role of Surface Warfare.
Accordingly, the aircraft is equipped with state of the art Forward
Looking Infra-Red (FLIR), electronic surveillance and protection
equipment, a highly capable multi-mode radar, a cabin mounted machine
gun and the Kongsberg 'Penguin' anti-ship missile.
The SH-2G has
a crew of two. However, it can also be flown by a single pilot and
SENSO, due to the flexible Integrated Tactical Avionics System (ITAS)
designed by Kaman and Litton Guidance & Controls. ITAS is driven
by dual Mission Data Processors and uses two dual 1553B databuses
to integrate sensors, weapons, communications, and navigation equipment.
