Navy Rates and Categories
Would One of these look good on you?
Check out these Rate Categories below they are the identifying badges worn by sailors of the Royal Australian Navy known colloquially among sailors as 'Right Arm Rates'. Gained after passing Recruit Training and then after successfully completing the relevant Category Course.
I will always remember when I 'picked up my rate' and it is perhaps one of the greatest and proudest moments in a Sailor's career. Underneath each formal entry you will see the Australian sailor's colloquial term for the branch or particulary rated person, as used on a daily basis in everday sailor speak.
For easy navigation and convenience the Images marked 'General Entry' contain links to the Official RAN Website's Specific Category page. Rates not marked thus require prior service qualifications before selection and have no links. You may access the Main ADF Recruiting Homepage via the links page in this website.
