Please be patient - These boards do not offer automatic registration and entry, as most on the net do.

First of all the question you need to ask, is do you really need to be a member here? if you are a family member looking for info about a relative who was in the navy or you have just a specific question about the RAN etc., then you can just email us with your query and we'll see what we can do find the info for you and email you back without you having to go through the task of applying for membership.

Should you decide to complete the form below and apply for Gun Plot Membership an email will be sent to our Admin Staff with your submitted details. Each applicant's email is viewed and assessed by a human then input by hand into our database. This may take up to a maximum of 48 hours, although usually completed in 24 Hrs. This is done for security reasons, and in your own best interests, because on these forums everyone knows everyone by name, and his/her navy service, all 1300 hundred of us, ranging from WW2 to The Gulf! The R.A.N. is quite small, like a family and we like to keep it that way.

Noone is permitted to join here and post annonymously. We are all about finding Navy Shipmates and Running Oppos so we like to know who we are talking to. Should we detect a deliberate attempt at masking or impersonating a navy identity the IP number and details will be permanently blocked.

These boards are provided free by the Webmaster/Owner for the use of R.A.N. Sailors & Wrans, either Ex or Serving.

Sailors of other nations, direct relatives of navy people, researchers etc., are also welcome to forward a submission. Each will be taken on a case by case basis by Admin Staff.

'Tyre kickers' will not be responded to.

Forum Rules and Guidelines:

Gun Plot’s Forum and Message Boards were created by the owner in 1997 as a tool for sharing conversation and interests with other Gun Plot Members from around Australia and the world. There are no fees or charges from Gun Plot associated with using this service.

Please remember whilst access is somewhat restricted, Gun Plot is still a PUBLIC FORUM. Your posts may be seen by Internet users around the world including minors and you are responsible for your own posts.

When posting on the bulletin board, please keep in mind that YOU CAN BE HELD LEGALLY LIABLE FOR WHAT YOU WRITE. For example, if you post defamatory comments about someone, you may be held legally accountable for them.

Gun Plot Admin Staff and Moderators have sole discretion in determining which posts are appropriate for inclusion on Gun Plot’s Forum and Message Boards and reserves the right (but disclaims any obligation) to remove from Gun Plot’s Forum and Message Board any message the owner deems inappropriate and to deny service to any member we feel has posted inappropriate content.

Offensive material is also prohibited. Offensive is a broad term, but we believe you know what we mean, if not then you're going to have to trust our judgment. This includes posts which are personally insulting or demeaning or ethnically, racially, religiously and sexually offensive.

Collecting or ‘Harvesting’ Email Addresses from Gun Plot’s Forum and Message Board for the purpose of solicitation or "spamming" will not be tolerated. Persons found in violation of this policy WILL have their Gun Plot Forum and Message Board access removed and blocked permanently.

Gun Plot Forum and Message Board is provided as a member-member communication vehicle and is not 100% monitored by Gun Plot Admin Staff for purposes other than to ensure that participants adhere to the Terms of Use Agreement. If members have questions regarding Gun Plot’s policy, procedures, decisions or activities, including Board actions, please submit them directly to Admin.

1. Forum Rules

Members may not post articles which contain unsolicited or inappropriate advertising, promotional materials, or other forms of solicitation nor post commercial or non-commercial information that may reasonably be considered as advertisements. Spam is not tolerated here under any circumstances! This includes offering hosting services (charged and free), installation services, etc.

Members may not post information they know to be false or fraudulent

Members may not violate any privacy-related right belonging to any person, business or other entity

Members may not harass, threaten, abuse, embarrass or causes distress, unwanted attention or discomfort to any other member, person or entity. Personal attacks, bashing, baiting, threats, trolling, profanity and sexual innuendos are strictly prohibited.

Posts are to be made in the relevant forum and Members are asked to read the forum descriptions before posting.

Members are asked to refrain from acting as "back seat moderators". If members note an issue which contravenes something in this policy document they are welcome to privately bring it to the attention of a member of the Admin Staff or Moderator Team.

Members should remember this board is aimed at a predominantly general audience so postings should be directed at a G or PG rating level. Posting pornographic or offensive text, images, links or other content will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Members are asked to respect the copyright of content owners. Posts linking to or asking for information on warez, crackz, etc. or re-printing material without permission of the copyright owner will be removed immediately.

Members should respect the bandwidth of other Members and sites and refrain from the use of image tags referencing data stored on third party systems, servers and websites for which the user has not received permission to reference.

Members should not post excessive numbers of emoticons or text which does not follow the norm for size and colour. Members should not write entirely in upper-case letters or use excessive punctuation in topic titles or posts.

Members should use an appropriate, descriptive title when posting a new topic. Examples of bad titles include; "Why?", "Money", "Trouble", etc. Examples of good titles include; "Retiring From The RAN", "Did you have problems adjusting?", etc.

Members should post a new topic under the correct forum section. Off-topic posts may be removed should they become a distraction or a large part of the forum content. Follow-up posts to off-topic posts may also be removed at the Admin or Moderator Team's discretion.

Members are asked to not post topics or replies containing information which may detail any security vulnerability within Gun Plot’s services. If you believe you have found a hole or other site security issue please contact Admin immediately and privately.

The Admin and Moderator Teams reserve the right to edit or remove any post at any time. The determination of what is construed as indecent, vulgar, spam, etc. as noted in these points is up to Admin and Moderator Staff and NOT the Members themselves.

Members may not impersonate another user nor access another user's account.

Members may not re-edit a post that has already been edited by Admin Staff or Moderators.

Members may not publicly discuss Membership bans nor any other Admin discip actions on the forum itself; such discussion usually results in unnecessary angst, one sided stories and misinformation. Please pose you’re questions via the private message system or email.

The above forum rules where applicable also apply to private messaging. Abuse of the private messaging system may lead to removal of your member account or at the very least, the revocation of your private messaging privileges.

Members are prohibited from starting or participating in any discussion that aids, encourages, details, abets or facilitates illegal activity of any kind.

Any User who directly contacts The Site Owner, Admin Staff or Moderator personally or posts insulting, indecent or vulgar material immediately forfeits all right to use these forums.
